CRIME OF THE WEEK F.B.I. SEEKS SUSPECT IN Crime Stoppers of El Paso is assisting agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in identifying and locating a suspect who is believed to be involved in multiple bank robberies, making this the “Crime of the Week.” On Tuesday morning, April 21st, about 9:00 A.M., a man walked into the First Savings Bank, 5430 Doniphan, minutes after the business opened. The man approached a teller with a note saying he had a gun and demanding money. He took the money and fled in a white, older-model Chevrolet Lumina with faded purple tinting on the windows. There were no license plates on the vehicle. The suspect is an Hispanic male, 35-40 years old, approximately 5-foot 7-inches tall, with a heavy-set build, medium to dark complexion, mustache, and a light beard. He was wearing a red baseball cap, possibly with the CHIVAS logo, sunglasses, black t-shirt with unknown printing on the front, and light blue jeans. This same suspect is believed to have held up the First Federal Bank, 2290 Trawood, shortly after 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 8th. At that time the suspect was called the “Village People” robber because he was wearing a yellow hard hat and was dressed as a construction worker, much like the character in the singing group.
